Why Become a Member
Better Together
Running a business on Flinders Island is rewarding, but it comes with challenges you don’t always face elsewhere. Distance, freight, workforce, housing, access to services and a small local market all shape the way we do business.
FIBI exists so local businesses don’t have to navigate it all alone.
When you become a member, you join a network of local businesses working together to share knowledge, access better resources, create opportunities and give Flinders Island businesses a stronger collective voice.
More Than a Membership
Your FIBI membership gives you access to practical tools, local knowledge, professional resources and connections that can help you run and grow your business.
Through the FIBI Business Toolbox, members can access business templates and tools, training and education, employment information, local contacts, marketing resources, industry updates and shared knowledge developed by people who understand what it means to operate a business on Flinders Island.
The Toolbox also includes thousands of dollars’ worth of professional marketing resources and assets, giving members access to quality content they can use to help promote their own businesses.
100% Reinvested Back Into Flinders Island
Every dollar raised through FIBI is reinvested back into supporting Flinders Island businesses and promoting our island.
Funds are used to strengthen the Visit Flinders Island destination brand, market the island to visitors, provide resources and support for local businesses, and deliver projects that benefit our broader business community.
No profits leave the island. Your investment goes straight back into building a stronger Flinders Island economy.
Local Knowledge You Can’t Google
One of FIBI’s greatest resources is its people.
FIBI is led by local business people who are actively operating, employing, investing and building businesses on Flinders Island. A significant amount of their experience, connections and intellectual property is being brought together and shared through FIBI and the Business Toolbox.
It’s practical knowledge from people doing business here — not generic advice designed for somewhere else.
A Stronger Voice
Some challenges are simply too big for one business to tackle alone.
FIBI represents the interests of the wider business community and works with Flinders Council, the Tasmanian Government, industry organisations and other partners on issues affecting our island economy.
FIBI is also part of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce & Industry network, extending the connections and support available to local businesses.
Connections That Matter
Sometimes the most valuable thing is knowing who to call.
FIBI helps connect members with other local businesses, government services, business advisers, training providers, employment services and specialist expertise.
It creates opportunities for businesses across different industries to meet, collaborate, share ideas and learn from one another.
Have a Say
FIBI is a member-led organisation with a volunteer board elected by its members. Becoming a member gives you an opportunity to participate, contribute ideas and help shape the priorities of an organisation representing business on Flinders Island.
Your Membership Supports More Than Your Business
FIBI is a not-for-profit, volunteer-led organisation. Membership fees help us continue providing business resources, advocacy, education, connections and projects that support the broader Flinders Island economy.
So when you become a member, you’re not simply asking:
“What do I get?”
You’re also becoming part of something bigger — a network of local businesses sharing resources, knowledge and influence to make doing business on Flinders Island stronger for everyone.
Join FIBI. Build your business. Share what you know. Access what others know. And help strengthen the island we all do business on.
